Puppy Pocket

My mom and I had just been to a funeral several hours north of our home. So we stopped to meet a friend we hadn’t seen in a while. We grabbed a treat and sat along a river walk eating our desserts. An elderly man passed by walking a tiny poodle. She ran over to my mother and he apologized saying “she must want your food”. “Ah, I think she knows a dog person when she sees one” said mom. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And then… He walks very close to my mom… opens his jacket and says “look what I have in my pocket”…⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Out pops a sleepy little puppy, then he opens the other side of his jacket and another puppy happily greets us. He begins to explain that they’re 3 weeks old and he couldn’t leave them at home alone or in the car but their mamma needed her walk. He wished they wouldn’t have been spoken for before they were born because he would have kept them both, and that he’d started raising puppies a long time ago because it brought him such joy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It was so pure, completely unexpected and he was so happy to share us. So I had to sculpt the moment.
