A German Backpacker

In September of 2018, my mom, youngest sister and I spent 5 weeks in Spain walking El Camino De Santiago Route De Français. The trip was unlike any other... Hundreds of miles walking on dirt country paths and over cobblestone streets... through towns, villages, and cities older than my country... Eating dinner every night with at least 7 different languages being spoken around the table. Inspiration was everywhere. While walking El Camino De Santiago in Spain there was a unique character... A man who always wore an orange sweater, had a yellow sleeping bag, big round glasses, and sun bleached gray hair. One day I got the chance to talk to him, he was German and as interesting as he looked. In his youth he had hitch hiked across the entire US, sometimes even via train. So, I had to create this piece.
